TRANSPOSING
The first thing I'd like for you to do is take a look at the numbers chart. At first glance you probably can't make heads or tails of it, but you will, promise.

The first subject we will be discussing is "Transposing and Scales", this combination of letters and numbers on the numbers chart will be the main learning aid, so may I suggest getting used to seeing it.

The numbers chart will also be used for "chord structure" and learning "the numbers" system, which is a tool for fast, accurate recall of song arrangement.

The keyboard diagram will be used in learning "intervals, sharps and flats and scale structure" so try to become familier with both of them.

To show how simple "The Musicians Roadmap" is,let's first start in "transposing". Transposing means,..."to change the order or the sequence of...", and that is where the numbers chart will help.

Let's just say you have learned the song "Sweet Home Alabama", (this will be used as an illustration because the arrangement is uncomplicated, but you can use any song you wish so long as the arrangement is simply.)

The arrangement for "Sweet Home Alabama" are the chords D-C-G.

The first chord in any song tells what key the song is in. So this song is in the "Key of D".

This will be very important to you, as a "player", as you will find out if you continue in the field of music.
